Brett is a registered Psychologist with over 10 years of experience in clinical counselling and couples therapy. As well as his status as a registered Psychologist, Brett has completed Level 3 Training in Gottman Marital and Relationship Therapy and is presently working towards Certification. Brett is also a Member of the Australian Psychological Society.
In a clinical setting, Brett has a very collaborative and practical approach to counselling, utilising a variety of evidence-based therapeutic interventions. In addition to Gottman interventions, Brett utilises Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI) to support couples and individuals to meet their treatment goals.
In the treatment of couples, Brett’s specific areas of interest include:
- Managing conflict and repairing the damage caused by long-term unmanaged conflict
- Building emotional connection, closeness, intimacy and friendship
- Trauma (for the couple and for individuals within a relationship)
- Sexual health and dysfunction
- Affairs and betrayal
In his personal time, Brett enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, a range of outdoor activities and tending to his veggie garden. He also loves travelling and has spent time venturing through Europe, Africa, and many parts of Asia and Australia.
Brett values the relationships he builds with clients. He believes that when dealing with couples, he is present to be a guide or coach to support couples to improve their own relationship. He aims to deliver a high quality service to ensure measurable and lasting outcomes.
